DELIVERY SPECS FOR COLOR GRADING
I’m very happy that you decided to work with me. This is why I want to make sure that your project is provided in one of the following manners so that I can start color grading your project right away:
A. Camera RAW material
B. Project media
C. Final playout (clean feed)
A | GRADING YOUR CAMERA RAW MATERIAL
I’m specialized in RAW workflow and grading. This is why I prefer to work from the original camera source
material. To make this possible, please provide:
• reference QuickTime of locked edit with embedded audio.
• all Raw camera data
• XML or AAF of you Master Sequence
STEP 1: Duplicate the timeline/sequence and export a 1080p or 4K H.264, high bitrate .mp4/.mov reference video for the colorist
STEP 2: If the media files were transcoded to offline version (proxy files) for a better editing performance, then please relink all files to their online versions / original files
STEP 3: Disable text titles and other graphics/effects in the timeline so I have a clean feed version of your video
STEP 4: If the footage was filmed in RAW, then go to the camera raw properties for the clip and change the color space and gamma curve to the following parameters:
CAMERA: | GAMA CURVE: | COLOR SPACE: |
ARRI | ARRI LOG C | ALEXA WIDE GAMUT |
RED | LOG 3G10 | RED WIDE GAMUT |
BLACKMAGIC | BLACKMAGIC FILM | BLACKMAGIC |
B | GRADING YOUR PROJECT MEDIA
From the moment you lock your edit, I can start grading the same media used in your project. This method will work if your media is Apple ProRes 4444, Apple ProRes 422HQ or DNX HD.
STEP 1: You will need to provide a Media Managed project, which will contain all the necessary media that I need for grading and a reference QuickTime of your locked edit
STEP 2: Export an EDL file and refer to the screenshots for the process and the settings to be used
C | GRADING YOUR FINAL PLAYOUT
Alternatively you can provide a QuickTime Playout of your locked edit. This process is much faster, particularly if you have a lot of FX passes, resizing, or multiple layers. Please provide your video playout in one of the following formats:
• RGB 10 bit, 12 bit or 16 bit
• Apple ProRes 4444XQ
• Apple ProRes 422HQ,
• DNX HD 220 or 185, a PDX sequence.
